Finally, I speak! In the next several days, I will be posting stories and testimonies about South Africa. For now, I write the overview.
We left from San Francisco on March 27 and arrived in Frankfurt, where we ate authentic wienerschnitzel and toured around the cener of the city. I saw bikes, scarves, fashionably dressed women, churches, and towers--yes, I was definitely in Europe again! Strange to think I was only a few hours away from France...after our layover, we took a plane to Johanneburg. From there, we drove to Stilfontein. For for days, we spent time at Spirit Word, a church famous for seeing people leave behind wheelchairs and crutches. We also saw many healings and salvations in townships, hospitals, and on the streets. We lead church services twice, where I did background worship, called out words of knowledge, and gave prophetic words. I also experienced my first "braai"--a South Africa barbecue. Possibly the best meat I had ever tasted! We were able to minister with Spirit Word's ministry school students, who served as our translators.
On Wenesday, April 3, we took a plane to George, a beautiful city nestled in the hills and open to ocean. Here, we spent the mornings and afternoons digging trenches, playing with children, painting houses, or cleaning the streets in the local townships. I also spent two days in Knysna, a city about 45 minutes away that reminds me of Newport Beach in Southern California. We lead "revival services" in townships and connected with the youth at the Island Church, who were on fire for Jesus! Our entire team would lead services at night, where I preached for the very first time! Afterwards, we went debrief as a team for a couple hours.
After a week in George, we spent our final days in Johannesburg and Pretoria. We continued to lead services and do street evangelism...but not without a few surprises along the way! We were able to relax and have some fun before our 30-hour trip back to Redding.
The night I got home, I couldn't keep the tears from coming as I explained to Christy how much God had changed my heart in South Africa. I had experienced huge breakthrough in learning to live from love and peace, taking ownership of the value, beauty, and authority I carry, and connecting with team members. I took a day off to make an outline of everything that had happened and unpack--mentally and physically. A few days later, my leader asked me to make five slideshows for team members and supporters that we would show at our reunion on May 2. It was awesome seeing everyone's reactions at our reunion! I hope that these videos and photos will go straight to your heart and give you a good idea of what our trip was about. Enjoy!
