I am returning to SoCal on Saturday morning to spend Christmas and New Years with my family and friends. A lot has already happened here, however! Here is a visual update of the happenings in Redding over the past month. Be sure to read the captions!

God has been taking me on a journey where my dreams are coming to life since I have been 16. First, I studied composition in high school. Then, I went to France. Now, I am studying ministry at Bethel. Here, He is clearly calling me to the nations. Passion has burned on my heart like never before. As I take practical steps towards my dreams and believe in His provision, I know that I will get to where He is calling me. Because I hate keeping things to myself, in the past few months, I have become very interested in helping others steward their talents and take practical steps to pursue what they are passionate about. My current mission in life is to "empower others to passionately pursue the desires of their heart within God's Kingdom." Having met with a couple of coaches, I am now interested in pursuing coaching myself. In either case, I hope these questions below inspire you to think about your own dreams and purpose. They are taken from an article that Tony Stoltzfus, certified Christian coach, wrote called The Seven Questions Coaching Framework.
I would also encourage you to check out The Calling Journey. There are resources on this website that will help you reflect upon what it is you love to do and where you feel God is calling you! This year, God is teaching me how He speaks to me and how I am wired. It is great! I recently found a website where you can take free personality tests. As far as I know, all Second Year Students take the DISC assessment, because Bethel really values identity and destiny. This new year, may he "grant you all your heart's desire and fulfill all your purpose!" (Psalm 20:4) I pray that God would open your mind to dreams, passion, calling, purpose, and most of all, identity in Him. Blessings!
Father God is so in love with me. My identity is formed from this place. I start off accepted and loved, and just keep increasing in favor as I steward the gifts and passions He has given me! I do not need to strive or gain the acceptance of others. I work from love instead of for love
How I treat myself and how I treat others changes things. I am not entitled to anything, but I live in humility, being thankful for everything, celebrating what God is doing, has done, and will do. I celebrate the victories of others. This is my reality: I am meant to live in the "righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit." God has not given me a "spirit of timidity and fear, but one of power, love, and sound mind" Today, "Pastor Bill" held a special meeting at Bethel for students. Here are some notes from his talk (they did not copy very well from the orginal, but are still legible):
What do you do in moments of loss and disappointment?
"A verse of comfort when things do not work out as they should"
These are some of the core values at BSSM that Mark Brookes discussed yesterday.
Today, I met with Philippa. She is a young, well-traveled writer from London who is taking the Third Level Coaching AMT in Second Year. Since it was our first meeting, we simply chatted about our lives as I sipped my tall Tozo Passion. When I told her that I had lived in Rennes last year, she told me that she knew a "French-German girl" who was "going to university there."
"Her name's Kristien," She began "Schubert!" I finished. "Yeah! How do you know them? I sat with her family at this exact seating at this exact location when they visited Bethel last year. By the way, what made you decide to do BSSM?" "Actually...their visit really helped. I came over to the Schuberts house for lunch with a few friends from church. They spent two hours discussing the miraculous and their time at Bethel. By the time they had described the Encounter Room and the Festival of Cultures, I was head over heals in love. I also borrowed The Ultimate Treasure Hunt from their bookshelf." Philippa then described a stay in South Africa. Later that day, a family friend picked me up from school and took me shopping. His neighbor, a woman in the front seat, had prophesied over me three weeks ago that I would come to the nations with my song! I had happened to take a seat next to her during a Cultivating the Presence class at Bethel. She and John were so sweet! Their encouragement was so refreshing. John also said something about a formal French gathering in San Francisco. I knew I would need the evening gown I brought up here! Finally, we mentioned making a French meal for some mutual friends that lent me their bike for the year. After I got home, I talked with a friend from Single Life Workshop. He had gone on the exact missions trip that I had wanted to go on last year and told me all about his testimonies. Wow! God brings all the right connections at all the right times! |
